5 Garage Door Holiday Decorating Ideas

It’s the most wonderful time of year! The holidays are upon us, which has many homeowners pulling their holiday decorations out of storage, as well as purchasing new. When decorating your home for the holidays, the only limitations are your imagination, and commitment to outdoing your Scottsdale neighbors.

Here are five garage door holiday decorating ideas to keep in mind this season.

Holiday Wreathes

One of the easiest ways to decorate your garage door is to simply place a holiday wreath above it (not on it). Wreathes are available in sizes up to 60-inches. Make a unique statement by adding your own personal touch to an unlit, undecorated noble fir wreath. There are a ton of great DIY ideas on Pinterest.

Garland and Swag

Frame the outside of the garage door with garland and colored or white lights. Command hooks can be used to hang garland around the garage door. You will need to attach a hook every three feet to secure the garland. Place some swag over the lights on both sides of your garage door (if applicable) for a festive touch.

Holiday Signs

Welcome Santa, friends, and family with cute holiday signs. Use stencils or stamps to create some catchy phrases for your signs, such as “Believe,” “Joy,” “Farm Fresh Trees for Sale,” or “Santa, Define Good.” Make two corresponding signs and place on both sides of the garage door. Purchase scrap wood at your local home improvement store.

Holiday Projectors

Add a dazzling star shower look to your home, or project a seasonal message or image, with or without sound onto your garage door with your choice of holiday projector. You can purchase these at most big box retailers. Simply stake to the ground and put on a holiday scene for everyone to enjoy.

Garage Door Magnets

There is a wide variety of holiday decorations, messages, and murals that can be purchased at many retailers as well as online through Amazon. These attach to your garage door with magnets, making it quick and easy to put up and when the season is through, take down.
